  32. I read all the (various) definitions of "poles" and longitude direction,
  33. spin, etc., but to ask a possibly silly question,  HOW do you determine
  34. where a longitude grid BEGINS?  Find Greenwich, Venus? ( ;-) )
  35.  
  36. One of the (more) unbelievable parts of "Close Encounters" (and others)
  37. was the use of our latitude/longitude co-ordinate system.  While latitude
  38. can be inferred (or at least argued over as of late) what basis (if any)
  39. is there for longitude?
